    • The applicant must be living outside his/her home country
    • Must not be a resident in the host country
Unique Features
  • Renewable up to 5 years
  • $500,000 lifetime maximum
  • No coinsurance for treatment outside USA
  • No coinsurance for treatment inside USA within PPO network or in Student Health Center
  • For treatment in USA and out of network, plan pays 80% of the first $5,000 of eligible expenses then 100% up to plan maximum
  • 60 days benefit period
  • Covers basic school sports up to $5,000/injury or sickness
  • 6 months waiting period for pre-existing conditions coverage if the optional rider is purchased

Advantages

  • $500,000 coverage for emergency medical evacuation independent of plan maximum
  • Availability of discounts on prescription drugs in participating pharmacies in US

Disadvantages

  • 12 months waiting period for pre-existing conditions coverage
  • Covers maternity only if conception occurs plan start date
  • 6 months pre-existing conditions rider is available if the destination is US and the states are Florida, Hawaii, Idaho or Massachusetts
  • Pre-certification penalty is 50% of the eligible expenses
Platinum Plan with Enhanced Features:
  • Maximum Limit: $1,000,000
  • Deductible:
    • Treated outside the US & Canada: $25 per illness or injury
    • Treated inside the US & Canada:
      Within the PPO Network - $25 per injury/illness
      Outside the PPO Network - $50 per injury/illness
      In a Student Health Center - $5
  • Reduced waiting period for pre-existing conditions overage: 6 months

The usage of deductible and coinsurance:
  • First time you visit the doctor with sudden dental pain the bill amounts to $100 for a filling
  • You will have to pay the full $100 as the chosen deductible is $100
  • A few months later, you meet with a motor accident and get hospitalized to undergo a surgery for $80,000
  • Now the plan will pay 80% of the first $5,000. ie. Company will pay $4,000 and you will pay $1000
  • The plan will then pay the remaining eligible expenses
